Backpacking

Outside of game design, I’m an avid backpacker and hiker. I’ve explored sections of the Appalachian Trail, trekked through Big Bend in Texas, climbed the trails of Mount Rainier National Park, and descended into the turquoise canyons of Havasu Falls. Backpacking helps me unplug from technology, reset my perspective, and experience breathtaking views few ever see firsthand.

Lapidary: AustoneCutters.com

I also enjoy the art of Lapidary – the craft of cutting, shaping, and polishing stones to reveal their natural beauty. It’s a hands-on creative outlet that lets me work with tangible materials, satisfying my love for craftsmanship and attention to detail in a completely different way from game design.

3D Printing

Another creative outlet of mine is 3D printing. I enjoy designing and printing practical models that support my other hobbies, as well as crafting fun, unique pieces to share with friends and family. It’s a perfect blend of creativity and problem-solving – turning digital ideas into tangible, functional creations.

Laser Engraving/Cutting

Laser engraving is another creative outlet I enjoy. Whether working with slate, leather, or wood, I love turning simple materials into personalized, meaningful pieces. There’s a real satisfaction in seeing a clean, precise design come to life on a blank surface.
